Another win for Asian representation in Hollywood!  FX has unveiled a new television series and viewers will be excited to hear that Sonoya Mizuno (Crazy Rich Asians) is playing the lead role.

The series Dev, created by Ex Machina director Alex Garland, was announced at New York Comic Con this past weekend.  According to the network, the sci-fi show follows Lily Chan, “a computer engineer who investigates the secretive development division in her tech company, which she believes is behind the disappearance of her boyfriend.”

The show will also star other notable actors including Nick Offerman, Jin Ha, Zach Grenier, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Cailee Spaeny, and Alison Pill.

“After reading all 8 scripts and hearing Alex’s brilliant vision and commitment to direct all of the episodes, it was an easy decision to order Devs to series,” John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions, said in a previous statement. “Alex is a visionary artist who with his partners has put together a stellar cast.”

Unfortunately, viewers will have to be patient for the new eight-episode series. Devs is set to premiere in Spring 2020.

Meanwhile, Asians have been thriving in the entertainment industry. Randall Park (Fresh Off the Boat) launched a new production company, Imminent Collision.

Running the production house alongside his friends and creative partners Michael Golamco and Hieu Ho, the trio created the company to support and develop “comedy-forward stories from Asian American perspectives for all audiences.”

And during the weekend, Saturday Night Live’s first full Asian-American cast member Bowen Yang arguably stole the show with his latest character.

More Asian representation in Hollywood? We’re here for it.
