10 things to do while in quarantine

This article is sponsored by Passion Tea Room. Passion Tea Room represents the best parts of Vancouver and West Coast Culture – a Passion for excellence in our products and a Passion for our community.

Chances are you’re familiar with some of these quarantine activities, if not done a handful of them already. We’ve compiled a list of just some of the things we’ve done or seen floating around on the internet – how many of these activities will you try in your Asian household?

1. Make some fancy drinks

You know exactly what I’m talking about: dalgona coffee and bubble tea! Mix till your arms go numb and don’t forget to hit that share button on social media before you start sipping away. Not a fan of drinks made out of instant coffee? Try making bubble tea at home with your own DIY bbt kit!

2. Fool around on Zoom

Spruce up your Zoom meetings and entertain your colleagues and classmates with some backgrounds from Studio Ghibli, Disney, or Animal Crossing. Alternatively, there’s also Ron Swanson’s desk, Grumpy Cat, and memes.

3. Create games out of your family’s group chats

March Madness may well be behind us, but might we suggest using a bracket to collect and keep track of all the doctorly advice you’ve probably received from WeChat and WhatsApp over the past couple of months?

4. Bake something, anything

Bonus points if it’s inedible or the seventh loaf of banana bread you make in as many days, and especially if you spend all your days lovingly nurturing your sourdough starter. If you have more of a sweet tooth, why not try your hand at some delicious matcha treats?

5. Put your inner interior decorator to the test

If you’ve not cleaned your room/apartment/house/under-the-bed-space at least once in this time, you’ve probably at the very least been hard at work designing your Animal Crossing rooms, Stardew Valley farms, or Minecraft cities.

6. Make the arduous (virtual) commute to work or school

… only to miss your online classes or meetings, struggle to log in to said classes or meetings, or somehow manage to log into the wrong class at the wrong time on the wrong day.

7. Play all the games

Solve all the puzzles and great mysteries of the world that you can possibly solve, or play AZN Flush, Cards Against Humanities, Exploding Kittens, Overcooked, or Catan during  Zoom happy hour. For hours of agony, try Beverly’s 2,000 tile, all-white micro puzzle.

8. Help your family stay connected

Walk your parents through how to set up and use Zoom. Perhaps have a small tiff or mini-meltdown in the process because the Internet is really hard, okay? If you’re feeling particularly ambitious, why not relive those early childhood memories and try your hand at writing a letter to your relatives?

9. Learn a new hobby

Learn to knit or crochet some really cute amigurumi, Harry Potter characters, or otherwise busy your hands while listening to all those lectures and meetings. Alternatively, paint, doodle, or play an instrument to while away the time.

10. Catch up on your shows and films

Perhaps games are too much work and Netflix is more to your liking. Shows like Love is Blind and Tiger King have been making their way around the internet, but maybe, like me, you’re also waiting for Netflix to drop Avatar: The Last Airbender, come May 15. Why not check out The Half of It while you’re at it?

Bonus: Learn how to be an expert multi-tasker to get all the things done.
